Making Smitten Kitchen's Oreos

I only have one thing to say about these Oreos. You must make them. Stat.

There are only a few things that I've encountered that I cannot stop eating: lemon curd and this filling. Because it really, FOR TRULY, tastes exactly like the filling of an Oreo. I may or may not have eaten a spoonful of it. Or four.

Behold, a pastry bag. If you don't have one, never fear. A little plastic baggie with a corner snipped off will work just fine. Make it work, babe!
Please excuse the fact that my hand looks manly. I actually have very small hands. Really.

My cookies were a bit puffier because I used natural cocoa powder as opposed to dutch-process. I'd recommend using the dutch process, but even if you don't, the oreos will still be delectable. Promise.

Here's the recipe!

  1. Drea, these look delish and i adore the blue plate you have them styled on. and i may have to make these myself since Smitten Kitchen claims they are the antidote to being in trapped in opryland, which is exactly where i've been for the past 3 days, and i know exactly how she feels. grits with bacon? a 'buffet' with only cream-drenched foods? help me back to normal kitchen food, please! thanks for the tip off! :)
