In Which I Obsess About Books

I love books.

You may have picked up on that.

But I do; I love them. The beauty of the written word speaks to me. I love the ideas they paint, how they move the soul, the art of saying something exactly how it should be said. I love curling up with a book at dusk with the sun glowing; darkening behind me and the inky cool night air flowing through an open window and being completely, utterly, entranced by a story. Books (and how I read them) are magic to me.

Old books are also magical. Perhaps even more so than regular ones.

In Which I Rediscover the Joy of Thrifting, Part II

Dear Thrifting,

You and I shall never be parted again. It's been way too much fun. Particularly on the book end of things. (Pun entirely intended.)

I love books. All books (trashy romance novels excepted). But my very favorite books are ones that I get for the price of a soda.

Just a few Calvin and Hobbes in pristine condition.

In Which I Rediscover the Joy of Thrifting, Part I

So I went thrift store shopping today for the first time in about a year and a half. It was glorious.

I had completely forgotten how thrilling it is to get lots of things you love for a pittance. And how exciting it is to see potential in things. And how musty some thrift stores smell.

But there was treasure to be found amid the mustiness. And I found it. Oh yes I did.

My loot.

On My Mind: Adele, Marshmallows, and Books

I think in lists. Apologies.

1. Adele is my very favorite. (So is Jennifer Garner. Non-wacky celebs make me happy.) Her voice is incredible; what I like even more is her musical aesthetic. Her music is bare bones: usually just her vocals and a piano. That restraint is so refreshing.
