This is me several years ago. I was finishing a 3K and running like the wind. (Not really. Just go with it.)
I don't really run like the wind anymore. In fact, I rarely run. So I have resorted to something to get myself back in shape. Something shameful.
See, I was thinking to myself the other day "Andrea, what would motivate you to run more?" And I replied to myself, "Well, Andrea, I'd really kill for that new Cook's Illustrated Cookbook." And so I said me, "How 'bout this, you work out five days a week for the next two weeks, and I'll buy you that cookbook."
And so I said to myself, "It's on, Self."
Don't judge. You know you talk to yourself, too.
Yes. It's true: I am bribing myself with a cookbook. As a result, I'm sure I'll be in awesome shape in no time.
Heh heh. That'll show me!
Haha I love your writing. how did the challenge go?? did you just give into your self and wager that it was a good bet, better luck next time? ;)
ReplyDeleteIt went well - I posted about it in "Ode to a Cookbook." I didn't work out as much as I wanted to, but I worked out more than I had in the past, so I figured that was good enough. That's the hazard of making a deal with yourself, I suppose. ;)
