What have I done?
I made these. And my husband rejoiced.
Then I ate one. And my taste buds were happy.
As we speak, they are chillin in the freezer and sometime tomorrow, they'll be put together in care packages.
Care packages, people. It's where the luuuhv is at. Do it for a college student you know and they shall love you forever.
Here's the adventure in pictures:
I made the truffles several different ways: white chocolate with almonds, milk chocolate topped with almonds, and milk chocolate covered with almonds - my crunchy favorite! |
My sisters and brother recently started up college and high school. They'll never know what hit them. (Teehee. Ateeheehee!) Nothing like some mouth-watering truffles to cure homesickness.
Oh, and let me just say, the truffles are divine. Eat them and be happy!
And then, dear reader. I made these. Martha Stewart, I love thee.
I found an amazing fabric store in my town and picked two coordinating fabrics. Because, as we all know, it's all about presentation! I can't give my siblings lovely chocolates in regular plastic baggies! They need something a bit snazzier. It's because I'm OCD like that. Can't help it. Le sigh.
On an entirely different note, I hand sewed these bags. Because I have no sewing machine. Alas. And yes, it took a long time, but you know what? It was so cathartic, the rhythmic, repetitive motion. Try this project this weekend and see what I mean!
I cut this fabric a little bigger than Martha Stewart suggested. I traced a piece of paper (8 1/2 x 11) which made my bag a bit longer. |
I folded my little cut out in half. Then I traced a 1/4 inch border around the edge and sewed 'er up. |
And this, my dears, is the finished product. I put the truffles in plastic bags, then slipped the plastic bags into these fanciful ones. Aren't they the cutest little things?!
Everyone deserves a bag of happy!
