You may have picked up on that.
But I do; I love them. The beauty of the written word speaks to me. I love the ideas they paint, how they move the soul, the art of saying something exactly how it should be said. I love curling up with a book at dusk with the sun glowing; darkening behind me and the inky cool night air flowing through an open window and being completely, utterly, entranced by a story. Books (and how I read them) are magic to me.
Old books are also magical. Perhaps even more so than regular ones. |
I'd like to have a house that makes reading easy. Meaning, a house with lots of windows, one or two quiet reading nooks and a plethora of throw blankets and pillows. And oodles of books, naturally.
Here are a few inspiring pictures culled, naturally, from pinterest. Each of them has an aspect that encourages one to pick up a book, find some tea, and get comfy.
Let's look first at the importance of sunlight. There's something wonderful about reading near a window, especially one with a view. It's naturally relaxing. I hope the next house we live in has lots of windows where I can set up comfy chairs for bouts of spontaneous reading.
Sunlight, pillows, and floor to ceiling books. Ahhh. |
And lastly, slouchy, comfy pillows. Just the sight of them makes me want to peel off my shoes, put up my feet and lean back into them. Preferably with a copy of Jane Eyre within an arm's reach.
Ahhhh! |
Drea, this is too much for me. i have such a weakness for built-in bookshelves, but i can't figure out where i should put them. i don't care anymore. they should be everywhere :) how do you keep all of your books? it's so hard to find good, cheap bookshelves!
ReplyDeleteI know. Built in bookshelves just kill me. In a good way. :) Right now, Ryan and I are debating wether to splurge on Real Bookcases or just to get some Ikea knockoffs. Between the two of us, we have way too many books. Way, way too many. ;)
